I have been using Quicken 2007 since the year 2000. That is 18 years worth of data, & this version is better and simpler
to use then any other version that has come out since.....in my opinion. I am always hesitant to upgrade to a new MacOS on the chance it may not be supported. I have had no issues with Quicken 2007 since using MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. Has anyone tried it with MacOS High Sierra?
Found this on Quicken's site:
You may continue to use Quicken for Mac 2007 for as long as you like and for as long as it continues to run, but be aware that the product may stop working if Apple removes legacy technology, which Apple has warned will happen in a future version of Mac OS X. We’ll update this webpage if we discover that a version of Mac OS X has been released that will prevent Quicken for Mac 2007 from running.

You can't have the Quicken 2007 data file on the boot drive if if is a SSD and has been formatted to the new APFS format. Put the data file on an OS X Extended (journaled) volume or external HD and it will open an save the back normally.
I had no Problem with Quicken 2007 Ver 16.2.4 Up thru El Capitan. After installing Sierra Ver 10.12.6 I have problems
with occasional shutdowns and when restarted it has to rebuild the Database and accounts and transactions. It also starts up fine and several days later the toolbar disappears. I have to go to the Menu amd Configure Toolbar. I select Revert to Default settings and save. The Toolbar reappears. But I cannot find it without doing that. i save sgutdown and restart without problem with the above Quicken & Sierra combination. I am hesitant to upgrade to High Sierra for this reason.

I've just updated to MacOS 10.13, and Quicken 2007 runs but won't back up when closing the program. Not good.

I knowQ2017 version does because the setup is there I don’t know about Q2016 because I don’t use Bill Pay at this time. Here’s the help file entry for Quicken 2017.
Bill Pay
There are 2 types of online bill pay services within Quicken.Bank Direct Connect Bill Payallows you to pay bills and transfer money between accounts - all from within Quicken. Only about 400 banks support this type of bill pay.Quicken Bill Pay1 is a paid service that allows you to pay bills from within Quicken using any bank.
Start here:
I upgraded to Q2015 several years ago and abandoned it for Q2007. I just preferred Q2007 when it ran on LION. Anyone who recently switched to Q2017 and High Sierra were you able to export and import the Quicken data file from Q2007 to Q2017.

Thanks. Some of what you say is useful........some not so much!
I've not tried other accounting software yet. Like you, I've got years invested in Quicken.
I would like to know the last Mac OS where you were able to run Quicken 2007. For now I'll upgrade to that and stop.
Thanks!

When I first found this thread, the only thing showing was the OP, and then afusso's first post saying Quicken 2007 didn't work for them in their office. I now see all the other posts where Quicken 2007 is working under Sierra, so long as it's the right version. I have 16.2.4. Will this work?
Just updated to Sierra OS last week. Very pleasantly surprised that Quicken for Mac 2007 as well as Microsoft Office 2008 work fine with Sierra. My iMac also runs much better with the newer more secure version of Safari. Sierra automatically updates all the Apps as it loads. Terrific job by Apple. Thanks Apple.
If you have the quicken 2007 app and the icon has a circle with a line through it you need to get the CD version from the QUICKEN website. It cost me $10 several years ago when OS Lion came out. Now you need to chat with them and order the CD.

Use the version on the CD. Then you can choose update from within the app itself.
It works with sierra and my new MacBook Pro with touchbar.
Once again I’ll point out that Quicken 2017 does everything Quicken 2007 does and more. Loan amortization has recently been added also. Quicken 2017 is regularly updated with new features and bug fixes. I moved from Quicken 2007 to Quicken 2017 late last year and have been very satisfied with its performance and features. It’s a completely different app now that it is no longer owned by Intuit. The new owners seem to be really committed to Mac users, unlike Intuit.

The comparison chart is slightly outdated. Quicken 2017 added loan amortization a month ago. There’s also a voting section to request additional features. As I said the new owners seem to be committed to the Mac version. I held onto Q2007 for along time, having tried Quicken Essentials and Quicken 2015 and being disappointed. That changed with Quicken 2016. I realize that some people have hardened their attitudes about Quicken Mac. You may be one of them. For me, though, Q2007 was so long in the tooth I couldn’t continue using it with the knowledge that one day, one update, one patch to macOS, it would stop working with no recourse.
Another consideration is that Quicken 2007 is a 32 bit application. The next version of macOS, High Sierra will require all apps be 64 bit at some point. So if Quicken 2017 is still not suitable for you you will either have to move to another financial application or not update your Mac to High Sierra with all the security and feature issues that would have to be dealt with.
And no, I don’t work for Quicken.
It does seem like quicken is getting better. So far I will stick with 2007 until forced to move to 64 bit. Maybe by then more investment features will be in it, in quicken 2018, 2019. If not, I still have an old Mac to run it. It's not that I love 2007, it's just that all the features I need aren't available yet.
I started out with $ and cents, then was forced to something else when the software ceased, then MYM, Managing Your Money, and then Quicken. Each conversion was painful. Now there are years of data. Hopefully it won't be so painful to move to the new quicken.
Unfortunately, Quicken 2017 does not do everything that Quicken 2007 - not even close. I have been using Quicken since 1994, and I am stuck on the 2007 release because Quicken 2017 has so many critical features missing. I bought the 2017 version and spent several days testing it in the hope that I could use it. I did a detailed write up and sent it to the CEO of the new Quicken company to point out why users such as me cannot move to the new release. The 2017 release is indeed a step in the right direction, but it falls far short of what is needed. Specifically, the budget vs actual reporting is very poor and missing critical features. I use the 2007 version to report on budget vs actual by category for any time period. Hardly rocket science. The reports are clean, easy to read and flexible. The 2017 reports can't do this, and what is there is almost unusable. For example, the budget vs actual by month - the actual numbers are stuffed into a display that is similar to the 12 month budget entry display - unintelligible. And you can't report by an arbitrary date range - for example by quarter etc. Overall, almost useless. The other key area that is missing is investment reporting. The reports in the 2007 release are great - you can report on IRR and ROI for any time period and for all sorts of selections and sorts. There are also lots of other useful reports. There are no such reports in Q2017. The whole reason I use quicken for investments is the reporting - without it the investment function is useless. On various web sites I have seen lots of other users complaining about all of this for years, but unfortunately Intuit/quicken has still not got the new release to parity with the 2007 version. I am really hoping they will do so in the next release. I saw the video done by the CEO recently, and he does refer to "better reporting" in the 2018 version. We will have to see.
